Jack Flaherty Faces Criticism From MLB Fans For Joining Dodgers

Jack Flaherty remains a free agent in search of a team. Following his World Series run with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the pitcher is finding it challenging to secure a spot. His performance during the 2024 season received mixed feedback, failing to meet expectations.

Several free-agent pitchers have been prioritized over Flaherty, successfully signing with different teams. Although many anticipate he will find a landing place in 2025, there has been limited interest from teams for the right-handed starter. The Dodgers had acquired Flaherty late in the previous season but have not shown signs of re-signing him.

This offseason, the Dodgers have made multiple signings with deferred payments, prompting mixed reactions. Critics argue they are harming the sport by acquiring a plethora of players. Yet, Flaherty does not share this sentiment. He took to social media to voice his support for the Dodgers.

“A certain team is not ruining baseball. A lot of other teams are just doing very little,” Flaherty stated.

Flaherty’s remarks sparked significant backlash from MLB fans online. Here are some reactions from users on X.

“Bro, is trying so hard to get resigned,” commented one fan.

“Dude doing everything he can to get resigned after choking in WS,” another fan remarked.

“He’s enjoying all that deferred money; of course, he’s not gonna roast them,” a different fan added.

Jack Flaherty Eyes Reunion With The Dodgers

While he may not have explicitly stated it, it’s clear that Flaherty is interested in rejoining the Dodgers. Many players aspire to be part of the Dodgers roster, especially given their current status as a powerhouse team.

Flaherty’s time in Dodger Blue was short-lived, but he appeared to have relished playing alongside some of the league’s best hitters. However, with the Dodgers fielding an array of stars in their starting rotation, the feasibility of Flaherty’s return is uncertain.

It is plausible the Dodgers won’t pursue Flaherty again, considering they have Roki Sasaki and Shohei Ohtani ready to step in. Additionally, Clayton Kershaw is also awaiting a contract offer from the Dodgers.
