For Anthony Davis, the star player of the Los Angeles Lakers, maintaining physical fitness is crucial, particularly given his recent challenges with injuries. Last season was a notable turnaround for Davis, as he played in 76 games, achieving personal bests in rebounds and closely matching his highest shooting percentage.
In anticipation of the upcoming season, Davis is dedicated to preserving and elevating his performance. While speaking to the press, he outlined his goals for the season, stressing the significance of personal improvement to aid in the Lakers’ overall success.
“Being aggressive every time down the court, being dominant every game. Doing my job, doing my part in helping this team do what we gotta do. Being a team leader, carrying us in games, playoffs, whatever it takes. We can’t rely heavily on our games,” Davis asserted.
“Obviously it’s a team effort in what we’re trying to build, but for me personally, just talking it upon myself to make sure that I’m even better than I was last year,” he added.
Anthony Davis Stresses the Role of Three-Point Shooting in Lakers’ Success
Anthony Davis’ ability to shoot from three-point range will be crucial for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. In his conversations with the media, Davis pointed out how head coach JJ Redick has encouraged him to boost his long-distance shot attempts during the preseason.
“I shoot a lot of them in practice. At the end of one practice, he [JJ Redick] was in front of the group. He said you shoot them in practice, but we need you to shoot them in the games. After I shot nine in Phoenix, he said it again,” Davis commented.
Davis also expressed his views on the bond between LeBron James and Bronny, while demonstrating his shooting ability in the Lakers’ preseason win against the Phoenix Suns, where he made 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Nevertheless, the Lakers concluded the preseason with a disappointing record of 2-5.
